How to tell if the flywheel gear ring needs to be replaced? Maintenance engineers give professional advice

The condition of the ring needs to be checked when the following symptoms occur:

● Rattling at startup (metal scraping sound).

● Starter idling won't engage.

● Significant wear is visible on the tooth surfaces (more than 15% reduction in tooth thickness).

Replacement Notes:

1. Special hydraulic tools must be used for disassembly to avoid deformation of the flywheel.

2. The new gear ring should be frozen to -30℃ and then hot fitted to ensure the tightness of assembly.

3. It is recommended to replace the starter drive gears synchronously (to avoid mismatch between old and new gears).
